Abstract

A joint pilot-aided channel, carrier frequency offset, sampling frequency offset and timing offset algorithm is presented for frequency hopping orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (FH-OFDM) systems. Pilots of frequency domain are exploited to estimate Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO), Sampling Frequency Offset (SFO), and Channel’s Impulse Response (CIR) coefficients are estimated. To improve system performance Timing Offset (TO) and Inter-Carrier Interference (ICI) are compensated in time domain. New ML scheme using training sequences is presented to get the initial value of CFO and SFO, which will accelerate convergence of Recursive Least Squares (RLS) estimation. Relationship of bandwidth efficiency and hop rate of system is expressed. Simulation results show our algorithm outperforms conventional algorithms.
