Abstract

Low-rate DoS (LDoS) attack is very ulterior. The characteristics of LDoS attack are not very different from the characteristics of legitimate traffic. That makes prevention measures for traditional DoS attack ineffective to LDoS attacks. Although Flow Random Early Drop (FRED) can resist LDoS attack in the form of non-adaptive stream, but it can’t resist LDoS attack of types of data stream. This brings great risks to the network. Therefore we propose new algorithm based on RED. NS-2 Experimental results show that LDoS can be accurately identified and be punished by improved RED algorithm. Then the network can return to normal and network security has been guaranteed.
