Abstract

The author describes a new technique of posttraumatic nasal deformity correction using an upper buccal sulcus approach. In our experience, it can be used in posttrauma deviations of the nose with good results. This approach allows dissection of the nasal septum and lateral osteotomies under direct vision. This technique avoids internal nasal scarring and violation of the internal nasal valve. It allows one to avoid creating mucous tethers at the level of a transcartilaginous or intercartilaginous incision as these are all difficult to correct. The correction of alar cartilage deformations of the nose is impossible with this technique, but they are rare in posttrauma. This technique is an alternative to the classic rhinoplasty especially in case of important posttraumatic deformations of the nose.
