Abstract

During the last decade, many research and development efforts have been deployed with the aim of proposing new approaches for accessing remote, heterogeneous and autonomous data sources to share them across the network. These approaches vary in terms of concepts and standards used in the implementation of the approach. From our review of the literature, we identified the following four approaches: Transaction Processing Monitors (TPM), Tuplespace, Resource Description Framework (RDF), and Data Service Approach (DSA). We also provide an overview of the P2P systems that have been developed based on each of these approaches.
