Abstract

This chapter focuses on the nuclear diagnosis and treatment of the parathyroid glands pathology.

This chapter is structured into a first part, which presents general data about the anatomy, physiology, and non-nuclear diagnosis tests of the parathyroid glands. The nuclear medicine procedures are presented detailed from the technical point of view; each nuclear medicine test has a theoretical overview, a part of clinical cases, interesting images, and key points for the daily practice of endocrinologists. All examination protocols are followed by clinical examples of cases.

The next part of the chapter consists of therapy procedures based on nuclear medicine protocol such as radio-guided surgery of the parathyroid glands.
