Book cover Business Processes for Business Communities

Abstract

In this chapter, the concepts and modeling languages are introduced which are required for modeling, particularly of processes, objects, and organization structures in the remainder of this book. Initially, there is a brief explanation of the necessity and the motivation behind modeling. As a concrete modeling language for processes, Petri nets are introduced. The representation is rounded off by complementing pure process modeling with object modeling as well as with organization modeling.
