Als empirische Grundlage der zitierten Untersuchung dient die Auswertung eines Vergleichs von Managementtexten aus den 1960er und den 1990er Jahren. Bezogen auf die Zahl der Nennungen der untersuchten Texte liegt die „logique industrielle“ (industrielle Logik) in beiden Zeiträumen – wenn auch mit abnehmender Tendenz – auf dem ersten Platz, während die Nennungen einer „logique de réseau“ (Netzwerklogik) deutlich ansteigen und vom fünften Platz in den 1960er Jahren auf den zweiten Platz in den 1990er Jahren klettern (Boltanski u. Chiapello 1999, S. 204, 643–662).

So zeigt etwa die Befragung von 44 Netzwerken zur Bedeutung eingesetzter Managementinstrumente, dass dem Projektmanagement die höchste Priorität zugemessen wird (Stadlbauer et al. 2007, S. 264–267).

MessTech ist eine anonymisierte Bezeichnung. Die Namen der im Folgenden genannten Projekte und der mit MessTech kooperierenden Unternehmen sind ebenfalls anonymisiert.

Für Projektunterbrechungen sorgten insbesondere die krisenhaften ökonomischen Tendenzen im Zusammenhang mit der in der zweiten Jahreshälfte 2008 beginnenden Finanzkrise. Dies führte in den mit MessTech kooperierenden Unternehmen teilweise zum Abbruch oder zur zeitweiligen Einstellung innovativer Projektaktivitäten. Einige der unterbrochenen Innovationsprojekte wurden ab Ende 2010/Anfang 2011 wieder reaktiviert.
