Abstract

The 20th century transformed our civilization into a global society with transboundary perspectives and responsibilities on a planetary scale. While the impacts of human progress began extending around the world well beforehand, as with agricultural transformations of landscapes across continents, it was the two ‘world’ wars that inexorably introduced humankind to the interconnectedness among all nations and peoples on earth.
