Zusammenfassung

Die Arten der Gattung Haemophilus gehören wie die Genera Pasteurella, Mannheimia, Aggregatibacter und Actinobacillus zur Familie der Pasteurellaceae. Haemophilus spp. sind pleomorphe, gramnegative Stäbchen und stellen hohe Anforderungen an die Nährmedien. Sie wachsen bevorzugt in feuchter Luft bei 37 °C sowie erhöhtem CO2- Anteil (5 %) und sind oxidasepositiv. Die meisten Haemophilus-Arten werden im Nasen-Rachen-Raum des Menschen oder von Tieren gefunden.
