Zusammenfassung

Die Multiskalenanalyse ist ein mathematisches Konzept, das die Signalanalyse auf unterschiedlichen Auflösungsstufen beschreibt. Während die Auswertung von feinen Details im Bild die maximale verfügbare Auflösung benötigt, lassen sich grobe Strukturen mit geringerem Aufwand bei reduzierter Auflösung analysieren. Zwei Verfahren zur Multiskalenanalyse, die in diesem Kapitel behandelt werden, sind Bildpyramiden und die Wavelet- Transformation.
