Abstract

Adaptive and selective assembling (ASA) is a computer aided assembling technology aimed at the improvement of the quality of the product and the decrease of the level of quality costs to a considerable degree. It also allows to significantly decrease the level of quality costs in the serial production of small batch sizes with a high level of variant diversity. The main components of the ASA include the measurement of the probability distribution of quality characteristics, the determination of tolerance groups, the correction of process parameters and the compensation of quality parameters. The assembly of microscope objectives serves as an example for the implementation of the RFID-technology and cognitive capabilities of the assembly system for new flexible assembly techniques.
