Zusammenfassung

Chirurgisch relevante Erkrankungen und Verletzungen sind keine Seltenheit während der Schwangerschaft (Basaran u. Basaran 2009). So wird angenommen, dass in etwa 1 von 500 Schwangerschaften eine nicht gynäkologische chirurgische Intervention erforderlich ist (Dietrich et al. 2008). Die Untersuchung und Behandlung schwangerer Patientinnen kann jedoch auch für den erfahrenen Chirurgen eine Herausforderung darstellen. Dieser Umstand ist im Wesentlichen den mit der Schwangerschaft verbundenen anatomischen und physiologischen Veränderungen geschuldet. Die Sorge um die Gesundheit der Patientin sowie der Unversehrtheit ihres ungeborenen Kindes kann darüber hinaus auch mit einer Unsicherheit hinsichtlich der angemessenen weiteren Diagnostik und Therapie verbunden sein. Die Folgen einer verzögerten oder inadäquaten Therapie können, in Abhängigkeit von der Diagnose, zu einer deutlich erhöhten Mortalität der Patientin sowie zu einer erheblichen Fehlgeburtsrate führen (Klipatrick u. Monga 2007).
