Abstract
Over the years, several market mechanisms have sprung in electronic market space to tap new value creation opportunities. E-commerce B2B models are witnessing a move from traditionally being Brochure ware and Web Enablement of existing business process towards Business Model Reinvention (BMR). It begins with a new vision of the industry and winning business models. The key success variable to this achievement is Inter-enterprise Process Engineering. Component-based architecture provides the business benefits of rapid applications development for quick time to market, enterprise-wide consistency of business rules and quick response to changing business requirements. The paper begins with a brief description of the changing dynamics of business process in the BMR of e-commerce and then introduces the necessity of Inter-enterprise Process Engineering (IPE). We follow it up with a discussion on the component-based application architecture enabling BMR of e-commerce. Our observation establishes companies demand agile software in the face of accelerating business change. We have focused on the challenges in implementation of the same. . We conclude with the win-win situation of all players on successful implementation of Business Model Reinvention (BMR) of e-commerce.
