Abstract
In order to compensate for the disadvantages of passive drainage of cerebrospinal fluid and to get information on optimal drainage, a mechatronic extracorporal ventricular drainage system has been developed at the Helmholtz institute. A PI-controller adjusts the position of a linear tube squeezer to obtain the target intracranial pressure value. This paper presents the developed active drainage and first measurements of the drainage on a test rig including results of an online algorithm to detect the system’s hydraulic compliance.
