Abstract
Based on the analysis of the path planning on tooth movement in virtual orthodontics treatment system. The objective of path planning and the constraints of tooth moving were proposed and a mathematical model was established. The A* algorithm was selected to solve the path planning on tooth movement. The destination was defined that the smaller of the sum of all teeth’s move distance and rotation angle the better, meanwhile it is satisfy with the constraints of physiology, so we should consider many constraints in the system and then design a new heuristic function so as to get the better routes. At last, according to these information we use stage algorithm to iterate out each stage data on tooth movement. Based on the model and method, we made an experiment in the matlab, at last the results showed that this method is reliable and effective.
