Abstract

The frequency of international financial crises showed that keeping abundant foreign exchange reserves and effective management of the reserves were an important measure to prevent the financial crises which brought about by extemal factors. China’s foreign exchange reserves have amounted to $ 609.9 billion by the first three quarters of 2005. Gross reserve bas reached a historic high level. Its gigantic amount has been the focus of the debate among foreign and local researchers and professionals. This essay analyzes the moderation of China’s current foreign exchange reserve quantity, and on this basis brings forward several suggestions for the current foreign exchange reserve management policies.
