Advances in Power Distribution System Management Technology

Modeling and Control of Sustainable Power Systems

Part of the book series: Green Energy and Technology ((GREEN))

Abstract

Two important elements of the efficacy of a smart distribution grid are distribution automation and online distribution system analysis. This chapter presents recent research efforts from authors examining these two elements. In the study of distribution automation, an enhanced outage management system based on intelligent electronic devices and meter data is discussed. In the research of online system analysis, state-of-the-art high performance computation architectures (multi-core central processing unit and many-core graphics processing unit) that efficiently manage the complexity of the distribution system analysis problem on a large scale are explored.
