Abstract
This chapter is about methods used by amateur astronomers to view the Sun safely. There are three regions of light that will be discussed – the first involves observing the Sun in white light, the second uses Hydrogen alpha light, while the third uses Calcium K light. This chapter also provides a review of some of the most common types of telescopes used by amateurs to observe the Sun safely as well as observing tips.
