Abstract

Optical parametric oscillator (OPO) is an optical frequency conversing instrument using the frequency mixing characteristic of nonlinear crystal, in which one or two waves have the oscillating characteristic during the process of nonlinear frequency conversion. Meanwhile, optical parametric amplification (OPA) is a kind of equipment only amplifying the signal light. The former generally has a resonant cavity and the latter does not. In some references, OPO and OPA are named as optical parametric generation (OPG).
