Abstract

Nonlinear optical effects provide a means for extending the frequency range of available laser wavelengths. The nonlinear optical crystals are the basic tools, which decide the generated wavelength, output power, spectral linewidth, beam quality, and so on. In this chapter, we will review the basic theory and three-wave interaction in nonlinear optical crystals. The crystal parameters which affect nonlinear optical generation will be discussed.
