Abstract

The most important issue in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) cellular network is inter-cell interference (ICI) due to universal frequency reuse. In this work, we derive the analytical expression for interference on a particular user in a reference cell from all interfering cells irrespective of the position of user. We consider the effect of path loss, shadowing and fading on interference from three tiers of cells. Then we calculate ICI for two hop relay network. OFDMA downlink involves the sum of correlated random variables. Therefore a general expression is derived to solve the problems of correlated random variables irrespective of the system. The analytical and simulation results show the correctness of derivation.
