Abstract

To overcome the problem of existing tools and mechanism, we developed a sophisticated and fast Internet Access Monitoring Tool (IAMT) which works as a handy tool for network administrators to monitor the users’ activities on internet. Our main motive behind developing this tool comes from the need of a tool through which network administrator can analyze the users’ net surfing habit, distribution/consumption of bandwidth and detection of suspicious activities from user’s side. In our tool we analyzes both inbound and outbound traffic. This tool provides the feature of live packets analysis along with the functionality of storing the information in a database for future use. This tool can be very useful in organizations and institutions especially educational institutions where the number of peers is very high and their internet’s consumption habits follow a certain pattern.
