Abstract

The problem of measurement is the Achilles heel of the information society research. Despite this, or possibly for this reason, one can find a lot of different quantitative studies of this issue. Broader media popularity gain studies using composite indices for such examination. The paper presents the results of the analysis of most popular composite indices used in the information society research. Discussed are the basic methodological problems as well as the strengths and weaknesses of using such tools.
