Abstract
The gold standard for correction of the senescent jaw line and neck remains rhytidectomy. The short-scar purse-string facelift has slowly evolved. The technique is described, and the possible complications discussed. Many patients prefer improvement over perceived perfection if it means less downtime, less risk, and lower potential of having an unnatural or over-operated appearance. As a result of its vertical advancement, the vertical purse-string facelift combines the simplicity and safety of a superficial rhytidectomy technique while providing substantial rejuvenating outcomes to the lower face, neck, and midface.
