Abstract

It is now well-established that to be reliable, software have to be tested during the software life cycle, and this is particularly true with recent technologies such as Web services. Test purpose based methods are black box testing techniques which take advantage of reducing the time required for test derivation. Nevertheless, test purposes must be constructed by hand. To solve this issue, we propose, in this paper, some automatic test purpose generation methods for testing the operation existence, the critical states and the exception handling, in stateful Web services. To take into account the SOAP environment in which they are deployed, we also augment the specification with SOAP messages. We show that SOAP gives more observable reactions and helps to test specific properties.
