¿Es Ventajoso Adaptar el Controlador PI al Tipo de Electrodo en Ablación Cardíaca Percutánea por RF?: Estudio Basado en Modelos Teóricos

Abstract

The commercially available generators for radio- frequency (RF) cardiac catheter ablation employ a proportional-integral (PI) controller. Its performance is based on the value of two parameters, K p and K i , which are fixed, regardless the electrode type, i.e. different diameter, length, and temperature sensor type. Our aim was to assess by means of theoretical models whether values of K p and K i specifically chosen for each electrode type could affect the performance of the temperature-controlled RF cardiac ablation. We used theoretical models solved by the Finite Element Method. The results suggest that the specific choice of K p and K i parameters adapted to different types of electrode does not provide a clinically important enhancement.
