Abstract
QUANTUM INFORMATION is quantum foundations’ adolescent nephew, brash and suntanned, who crashes the party with a teasing, “Whatcha frettin’ about, people?” But the foundations family can’t kick him out so easily because he’s brought beer for everyone. And while some in the family brush off their relative’s skits as fleeting entertainment and as no match for their adult conversation, a few eagerly join the youngster upstairs for an intergenerational sit-in.
What contributions to the foundations of quantum mechanics have, or will, come from quantum information theory? What notion of information could serve as a rigorous basis for progress in foundations?
