Abstract

THE FIELD OF QUANTUM FOUNDATIONS is a genre-bender that feasts on a smorgasbord of influences ranging from physics and mathematics to the philosophy and history of science. In this sense, it has open-mindedness and lateral thinking hardwired into it. At the same time, it is often portrayed as a battleground where different factions are pitted against each other in a relentless ideological trench war—a stalemate in which each side refuses to cede territory but is unable to produce a defining argument that would change the hearts and minds of the opponents. And while for some it is the dissimilarities between the various interpretations that hinders reconciliation and progress, others have pointed to a lack of any tangible difference as the real problem.
