Abstract
Shear behavior is an interesting subject of soft soil engineering, and it is important to determine shear critical state under complex stress conditions. In this paper, eight failure criteria are established according to Mohr stress cycle and Coulomb strength theory. Three criteria are based on conventional soil mechanics, and the other three criteria are based on geometry-algebra theory. Last two criteria are on the basis of interdiscipline involving soil mechanics and geometry-algebra theory. Finally, example is introduced to verify correctness of these criteria and good agreements have been found.
