Abstract

Historically, a linear system was first considered as a ”black box” excited by inputs, generating outputs, and characterized by a transfer matrix [22]. In 1960, Kalman founded the theory of state-space systems [171], inaugurating the era of ”modern control theory”. This approach is however limited by several facts.
