Capacity Assessment: Is Asia Ready to Face Climate Change

Abstract
The Asia, home to about four billion people, has come a long way in its fight against poverty. Substantial proportion of people living in poverty was cut down in last two decades through remarkable growth. This progress has come at a high environmental cost. Tackling climate change is a priority in Asia due to numerous acute climate change factors and vulnerabilities. The demand for energy will continue to raise so as economic development. A large number of people live along the coast and on low-lying islands. Rising sea levels threaten coastal areas in the continent. Extreme events are expected to rise, and natural habitats are at risk.
