Abstract
This chapter will outline GMA’s particular strengths as well as its limitations. It will also discuss how GMA can be utilised in conjunction with other modelling procedures, usually as an initial step in framing and structuring complex policy issues in order to create a comprehensible first modelling framework when faced with a social/organisation mess. Finally, a number of extended features will be presented that have been developed in order to enhance the functionality of GMA and expand its areas of application.
Text in this chapter is based on earlier published articles on GMA, including Ritchey, (1991, 2005b) and De Waal and Ritchey (2007).
