ProRobot — Predictions for the Future Development of Humanoid Robots

Abstract

This paper gives a short overview over the results of the ProRobot study funded by the European Commission. According to the main objective of the study, explicit predictions are given for the development of humanoid robots in the future. Both the technical development and the economic exploitability are considered. Core components of a humanoid robots are identified and their development in the future is investigated, leading to a complete roadmap for the technological development. Promising application fields for humanoid robots are identified and examined with respect to their future relevance and progression.
