Zusammenfassung
Die Aufgaben des Fortpflanzungssystems sind die Produktion der Geschlechtszellen oder Gameten, das Zusammenbringen von Ei und Spermium, die Ernährung des Embryos oder Fötus bis zum Schlüpfen oder bis zur Geburt, und die Abgabe von Eiern oder Jungtieren aus dem mütterlichen Körper. Strukturelle Anpassungen anderer Körperteile und Verhaltensanpassungen können anschließend die Verteidigung, die Fürsorge, die Ernährung oder das Wärmen der Eier oder Jungtiere übernehmen.
