Zusammenfassung

Im Gegensatz zur kurativen Operation, die den Patienten heilen soll, hat die palliative Chirurgie das Ziel, die Lebensqualität des unheilbar kranken Patienten bestmöglich zu erhalten. Radikalität spielt keine Rolle. Umso wichtiger ist die Abwägung von Nutzen und Belastung bzw. zusätzlicher Beeinträchtigung des Patienten durch den Eingriff und seine möglichen Folgen.
