Zusammenfassung
Mit der Weiterentwicklung der wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse über autistische Störungen wurde diesemThema in den letzten 20 Jahren zunehmend mehr Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet. Im ▹ DSM-IV 1 sind autistische Störungen der Kategorie „Pervasive Developmental Disorders PDD“ (schwerwiegende Entwicklungsstörungen) zugeordnet. Die Kategorie PDD beinhaltet auβer Autismus vier weitere verwandte Störungen:

das Rett-Syndrom,

2.
die kindliche desintegrative Störung,

3.
das Asperger-Syndrom,
-
4.
PDD-NOS (ohne Spezifizierung), nur einige Merkmale einer autistischen Störung liegen vor.
