Zusammenfassung
Die Regulatorische Toxikologie verfügt über ein sehr breitgefächertes methodisches Repertoire. Der Regulatorische Toxikologe muss über hinreichende experimentelle Erfahrungen verfügen, damit er dieAussagekraft einzelner Techniken einschätzen und die Ergebnisse richtig interpretieren kann. Im Mittelpunktder experimentellen Untersuchu ngen stehen nach wie vor Tierversuche. Deren Interpretation erfordertgroße Erfahrung in der Pathologie und Pathobiochemie. In-vitro- Tests, die oft unter dem Aspekt des Einsparens von Tierversuchen entwickelt werden, liefern wichtige Informationen über Wirkmechanismen. Verfahren mit hohem Durchsatz sind im Kommen. Bei epidemiologischen Erhebungen stehen die Methoden der Personenbefragung und klinisch-diagnostische Verfahren im Vordergrund. Sie liefern Informationen über die betroffenen Organe beim Menschen und Hinweise auf die Dosis-Wirkungsbeziehung. Immer spielen statistische Methoden der Datenanalyse und -bewertung eine entscheidende Rolle. Durch den Datenzugang im Internet kann sich der Regulatorische Toxikologe heute innerhalb von Minuten ein Bild über den aktuellen Kenntnisstand zu vielen wichtigen Stoffen machen und damit die gewaltige Informationsflut bewältigen.
