Abstract
The jugular foramen is an opening in the skull base, located between the temporal and the occipital bone. Asymmetry between the right and left foramen is the rule. The right foramen is the largest in 68% of the cases, equal to the left in 12% and smaller than the left in 20% (RHOTON 2000). This is explained by the asymmetry in the intracranial venous drainage (Fig. 10.1).
