Zusammenfassung
Im Bemühen um eine einfache Alternative (Katz u. Falk 2001) zur Sicherung der Luftwege und zur adäquaten Beatmung vor allem im Notfall entstand der Combitube (Tyco Healthcare,Neustadt/Donau, Bayern; www.combitube.org). Ein elastischer Oropharyngealballon verschließt nach dem Aufblasen Mund- und Nasenhöhle (Benumof 1991; Frass et al. 1989b). Zum einen wird der Ballon gegen die Zungenbasis gedrückt, andererseits gegen den weichen Gaumen. Durch die Lage des Ballons knapp hinter dem harten Gaumen wird der Combitube ohne weitere Maßnahmen fixiert, sodass eine sofortige Sicherheit gegen unbeabsichtigtes Herausrutschen gegeben ist. Die Doppelläufigkeit erlaubt die Verwendung gleichermaßen in der Speiseröhre als auch in der Luftröhre.
