Zusammenfassung
Die erste therapeutische „direkte Bronchoskopie“ über ein translaryngeal geführtes Ösophagoskoprohr war eine Fremdkörperentfernung (Knochenstück) aus dem rechten Hauptbronchus bei einem 63-jährigen Landwirt durch Killian 1897. Diese Indikation dominierte für die starre Bronchoskopie bis in die Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Ein Jahr zuvor gelang Thorner die Extraktion eines laryngealen Fremdkörpers (Knochenstück) mit Hilfe der „direkten Laryngoskopie“, die von Kirstein 1885 als „Autoskopie“ beschrieben wurde. Vordem konnten aspirierte Fremdkörper im Larynxeingang nur durch indirekte Laryngoskopie, jenseits des Larynxeingangs in der Regel nur chirurgisch entfernt werden, d. h. durch Tracheotomie. Entsprechend hoch war die komplikationsbedingte Mortalität von bis zu 50% (Breisinger et al. 1997; Müntz 2000; Prakash u. Cortese 1994).
