Die theoretische Grundlage einer adjuvanten Chemotherapie bei Patienten nach kompletter Resektion (Ro-Resektion) eines Magenkarzinoms basiert darauf, okkulte, nicht im Resektat erfasste Mikrometastasen oder durch den chirurgischen Eingriff bzw. bereits vorher potenziell disseminierte Tumorzellverbände wirksam zu eliminieren.
