➲ Die Inzidenz des Ösophaguskarzinoms in der westlichen Welt ist in den letzten 20 Jahren stark angestiegen, v. a. bedingt durch die Zunahme des Adenokarzinoms des distalen Ösophagus und des ösophagogastralen Übergangs (Pera et al. 1993).
