Zusammenfassung

Der Wunsch, Zahnersatz in teilweise oder völlig zahnlosen Kiefern zur Wiederherstellung von Funktion und Ästhetik mit Hilfe „künstlicher Wurzeln“ zu verankern, ist so alt wie die Menschheit selbst. Chirurgische und technische Ansätze unterschiedlichster Art mit dem Ziel, dentale Implantate voraussagbar und dauerhaft im Kieferknochen zu integrieren, führten zu den enormen Fortschritten, die besonders in den letzten Jahrzehnten zu verzeichnen waren.
