Zusammenfassung

Die Definition der Kardiomyopathien ist in den letzten 40 Jahren mehreren Änderungen unterworfen worden. Die aktuelle Definition und Klassifikation der Kardiomyopathien wurde 1995 von der WHO/ISFC-Task Force vorgelegt. Die Kardiomyopathien sind jetzt definiert als Myokarderkrankungen verbunden mit kardialer Dysfunktion. Sie werden bei unbekannter Ätiologie v.a. aufgrund ihrer Pathophysiologie, bei bekannter Ätiologie nach ätiologischen und pathogenetischen Gesichtspunkten klassifiziert. Die häufigste Form ist die dilatative Kardiomyopathie.
