Zusammenfassung
Unter dem Begriff der akuten Bronchitis werden hier Infektionen der unteren Atemwege beim erwachsenen immungesunden Patienten ohne chronisch-obstruktive Lungenerkrankung (COPD) verstanden. Liegt eine akute Bronchitis im Rahmen einer COPD vor, wird stattdessen von einer akuten Exazerbation der COPD gesprochen. Die akute Bronchitis bei Kindern und immunsupprimierten Patienten bedarf einer gesonderten Betrachtungsweise.
