Zusammenfassung

Rickettsien sind weltweit verbreitete Erreger, deren Reservoir Säuger und Arthropoden sind. Bis auf Q-Fieber sind Berichte über Rickettsiosen aus Mitteleuropa spärlich. Es muss jedoch davon ausgegangen werden, dass Rickettsiosen und Ehrlichiosen unterdiagnostiziert sind. Der Mensch stellt außer für R. prowazekii, den Erreger des Fleckfiebers (Typhus exanthemicus), kein bedeutendes Reservoir dar.
