Zusammenfassung

Der Schwangerschaftsabbruch oder induzierte Abort wurde noch vor 25 Jahren in der allgemeinen Terminologie als krimineller Abort bezeichnet. Seitdem sind die Abortgesetze in vielen Ländern liberalisiert worden. Daraufhin sank die mütterliche Mortalität, und die Zahl der legalen Aborte stieg an. Im Gegensatz zu Japan, China und der damaligen Sowjetunion wurde der induzierte Abort in den westlichen Ländern nur als eine Notlösung und nicht als eine Methode der Familienplanung angesehen.
