Zusammenfassung
Während einer Schwangerschaft sind im Körper einer Frau eine Reihe von physiologischen und psychologischen Adaptationsvorgängen notwendig, um dem Fetus optimale Voraussetzungen für sein Heranwachsen zu schaffen. Die Anpassung erfolgt einerseits, um den erhöhten Ansprüchen der kindlichen Entwicklung und Ernährung gerecht zu werden, und andererseits, um im Rahmen der Geburt an den Geburtsvorgang adaptieren zu können. Der mütterliche Organismus verändert sich daher nicht nur im Bereich der Genitalorgane und ihrer unmittelbaren Umgebung, sondern auch an sämtlichen anderen Organsystemen. Der Kreislauf, die Nieren- und Lungenfunktion, der Stoffwechsel und vor allem das hormonelle Gleichgewicht sind hierbei hervorzuheben.
