Abstract
For a successful management of transformation and change projects, it is necessary to integrate skills from different areas: While general management skills are needed for strategic vision, organizational development, and process analysis, information systems skills are needed to assess IT innovation potentials and create adequate information systems support for processes. In addition, change management and human factor skills are a prerequisite for leadership in transforming organizations. Most MBA programs focus on traditional management functions like marketing, production management, finance, or controlling, and IS programs often restrict themselves to a technical perspective. Therefore, an integrated postgraduate program “Master of Business Engineering” has been created at the University of St. Gallen. This paper outlines theoretical foundations and describes current curriculum as well as first experience and future plans.
