Zusammenfassung
Emotionen wie Freude, Angst, Ekel etc. weisen in der Regel verschiedene Dimensionen auf. Sie haben eine gefühls- oder erlebnishafte Seite, sie besitzten eine kognitive (Bewertungsvorgänge) und eine motivationale (zu Handlungen führende) Komponente, sie haben einen biologischen-neuronalen Hintergrund und sie sind, wie das lateinische Wort »emo-vereº schon sagt, sich-heraus-bewegend, d.h. expressiv. Diese expressive Seite von Emotionen zeigt sich vor allem im Gesicht und hier vor allem in der Mimik. Fast jede Emotion des Menschen ist von einer mimischen Regung im Gesicht begleitet (Ekman 1993). Freut sich ein Mensch oder ärgert er sich, wir würden ihm das nur glauben, wenn wir entsprechende und adäquate mimische Bewegungen bei ihm sehen würden. Würde beides nicht zusammenpassen oder entkoppelt sein, so würde uns dies merkwürdig oder gar im psychiatrischen Sinn auffällig erscheinen.
